ECO-EVAP: Evaporative Pre-cooling PDF Print E-mail

Introduction

ECO-EVAP Pre-coolers are evaporative pre-cooling modules that are used specifically to precool air that is used to cool the air conditioner condenser coil.

Precooling of Air Cooled Systems

The ECO-EVAP Evaporative pre-cooling unit sprays a one-micron droplet atomizing mist on the upstream side of the condenser coil.  This has the effect of cooling the air as it passes over the coils. For example, with pre-cooling, a 90 degree air temperature is reduced to about 75 degrees which greatly improves the efficiency by lowering the compressor discharge pressure.

At lower temperatures across the condenser coil, the air conditioner efficiency improves, the energy use is reduced and the compressor useful life is increased.  The air conditioner produces colder air at a lower energy cost.

Results and Benefits You Can Expect

Each rooftop array of air-cooled units such as split systems and air-cooled condenser glycol loops will experience a 10%-20% increase in efficiency through effective condenser air pre-cooling that can lower intake air by as much as 10 to 20 degrees Fahrenheit.

The following are some of the benefits gained by precooling:

  • Helps achieve and maintain a high level of system performance.
  • Improves heat transfer.
  • Extends compressor system life.
  • Reduces system cycle time (shorter run times, longer off times).
  • Reduces energy necessary to produce a ton of refrigeration.
  • Improves systems rapidly.
  • Protects the environment by reducing energy consumption.

How it Works

The ECO-EVAP systems incorporate high pressure one-micron droplet size atomizing delivery systems with ruby delivery nozzles affixed in an appropriate array for pre-cooling the air cooled condenser units. Each nozzle is positioned & calibrated to produce the best mist pattern for optimal performance at the lowest flow possible.

Each system uses as little as 4.5 GPH (only while condenser is in use). In many cases this is less water than the water used to create the extra electricity wasted without the system.

Water Treatment
To combat the possibility of scaling, we use a sophisticated water treatment system to prevent the formation of scale.

Testimonials

When my controller came into my office asking if I knew why the electric bill went down, I knew your system was working even better than I expected. Your product and service is superb.
